Made It!

We made it to Guatemala City! It was a bumpy flight in but we got here safe and sound:-) Once we arrived at the airport and got through customs we headed to a the Grand Tikal Hotel and had an orientation meeting were we met the principal of the school we will be teaching at and the man who founded the school. After this we got to meet our host families! We are staying with Paublo and Astrid Erdmenger. Paublo is an engineer and Astrid works at an insurance company and also at the university here in Guatemala City. They have a son who is also named Paublo, he is 18 and luckily knows English! He drove us from the hotel to their home and it was a crazy ride. It is a miracle that you do not see more accidents on the roadways. Now that we've meet our families it feels real now. It will begin to feel even more real tomorrow because tomorrow will be our first days in the schools...excited to meet the kids but also a little in intimidated. One odd thing that I have noticed is that it gets dark here really early! It is 8:30 here and already dark and it started to get dark around 6:30ish. Just thought this was odd.
