Picture time!

I had trouble posting pictures yesterday because the internet was SUPER slow, so I'm posting some pictures today! This morning was our first day at the school and our first day in our assigned classrooms. Most of the students ride a bus to get to school so when they arrived all 200 some of them greeted us with hugs...definitely made my day:-) The rest of the morning I was in my second grade class room and I have to admit I am experiencing some culture shock. The teacher speaks about as much English as I do Spanish (which is VERY limited) so communication was obviously difficult. It was also a little disappointing not being able to sit down and just talk with the kids. Many of them would come up to me and just talk, going 100 miles a minute and most of the time I had no idea what about. They do not seem to mind the language gap however, the are so sweet and loving towards you that you can't help loving them right back. They even got some of us playing tag at recess which might have been the highlight of my day. Tomorrow I will actually begin teaching and am pretty nervous. I just hope they understand what I am trying to get across to them. Welp here's some pictures, more to come!
There was fog this morning, but a view of the mountains on the way to school

Another view of the mountains and some of the city

Right to left: Amanda, Syndey and Elvia, my roomies on their first day of school:-)

Our first day in Guatemala looking travel weary but heading to our host family's casa!

Paublo our host families son (a.k.a our driver) and Sydney

A cool bridge in the background and Guatemalan traffic of which this picture does not do justice.
